Are you running a local business?
What Is A Local Business?
Online, we refer to local businesses as those that are primarily seeking customers from the geographical area close to their physical location or business premises.
In real world terms this means that a local business can only deliver its product or service to people it can meet or interact with, in person.
Typical Local Business Searches
In the search engines, users are likely to search for local businesses by including a city, town or area name alongside the main search term.
For example if I were looking to book an appointment in a nail salon, I might type the search term nail extensions barnstaple into Google.
I’d definitely add a location like Barnstaple to my main search term because Barnstaple is a large town near where I live, where there are likely to be a number of nail salons.
Searching for nail salons without a location would give me thousands of results all over the world.
While some of these might be great businesses, I not able to fly to say, Bangkok to have my nails done.
Local businesses have to utilize different optimisation methods from national or global businesses.
